- Depending where you’re going, the local transportation could range from taxis to bicycles to tuk-tuks and everything in between.
- Remember that some services often expect tips when they are rendered, e.g. taxi drivers in NYC often expect a 15% tip at the end of the ride, though some people will even give 25% or more. Knowing how to tip your transporter will be included in the 1st package that we send you.
- Many places have various forms of local transportation, e.g. there are buses, taxes, and subways in NYC, so we will give you an outline of each along with their prices. This way you can find the method of getting around that most suits you (and fits your budget!)
- In certain places, you may be surprised to find people coming up to the windows of your cabs asking for money or trying to sell you something. We recommend that you do not open your window at this time, but choose to give back to the poor at a more opportune moment later in your trip if you would like.
- Sometimes it is fun to act like a local. For example: you might try renting a bike in Amsterdam and using it as your primary means of transportation. You’ll find that everyone gets around by bike in Amsterdam, and you’ll fit right in! Bike-rental locations are all near the major train stations, and they rent locks as well. Just be careful of the trolley-lines in the road; your bike can get stuck in them and fall over!
